Burger Culture is a local burger business in Williamstown, specialising in dine-in and take away burgers, buffalo wings and shakes. They are known for their casual, relaxed, funky vibe and their focus on excellent customer service. While they look like a chain store, this is a local business with a high level of enthusiasm for their brand.
Approach - Dial it Up
Faced with nationwide restaurant shutdowns, this small business needed to dial up there marketing collateral to get through an uncertain trading period. Burger Culture envisaged a premiere position in the local area, deciding to ramp up their marketing efforts instead of closing their doors. We identified ways they could establish a business presence, while only doing take-away service, through various signage options and an update of instore and printed marketing materials.
Goal - We Are Trading
The goal was to create impactful signage to let people know that the business was still open and trading as a take-away, during coronavirus lockdowns in Melbourne. They also wanted to increase foot traffic conversions during a time when many businesses were forced to shut their doors. Overall goal was to grow revenue, regardless of current conditions.
Creative - Modern Trends, Street Brand, Funky
Using existing brand colours of orange, black and grey the business owner had lots of visual ideas for inspiration. His images included modern trends and cut outs that reflected the established branding. The owner wanted to start small, given the international pandemic situation, and used outdoor teardrop flags to let people know he was open and trading for take-away. It worked! Always looking at how to develop his business, the owner then looked at updating other aspects of his store. We adapted his ideas to include new window designs, created vibrant new overhead menu boards and updated and printed new take-away menus.
Task - Teardrop signage, Window Motifs, Menu, Brochures
Create a suite of traditional marketing collateral that would see their brand lift and keep life in their business. Be visible from the street. Allow people to order quickly and efficiently.
Result - Trading Growth and Local Success
Burger Culture was one of the few businesses that was able to trade throughout the lockdown period and they are usually busy. Sometimes they are so busy that they put ‘not available’ on their UberEats listing because they have more than enough walk in orders. The small steps taken by Burger Culture to upgrade and adapt their marketing to suit the uncertain pandemic situation ensured business success. As their business continues to flourish via walk in, online and phone orders, their visual presence in the community is a stand out, due to the simple and effective marketing strategies delivered by us and printed by our sister firm Charti.
